My favorite top 10 dental websites.

My top 10 Dental Websites

I’m sure I sound like an old geezer by reminiscing about the old days.  I remember dentistry WITHOUT dental websites.  Do you remember those days? For a few hours each year we would meet with our local phone book representative, pick the size of ad that we wanted to run in the Yellow Pages. We would pick some colors, look at some stock photos, go over a few dental phrases, and within a few minutes our dental office marketing would be done for the year. We would then wait for the phone book to come out, and when it did we would pass it around the office for all to see, and compare it to all the other dental offices in the area.  Life was so simple … Continue reading →

Jetpack’s end of the year annual report

Crunchy numbers - Wordpress Jetpack Yearly Report -2014

The Year has come to an end.  Jetpack has released our numbers for 2014!  I must admit I was hoping to hit 100,000 page hits for the year, but I guess we fell a bit short.  We do have three years of numbers to compare.  The numbers are definitely going up. To summerize our last three years. In the 2012 report we had about 10,000 page hits. 600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 10,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 17 years to get that many views. In 2012, there were 79 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 80 posts. The … Continue reading →

Seasons of Smiles Dental is going viral.

OK, maybe not so much.  Well, at least in my wildest dreams.  Last year we posted a blog on blogging analytics.   In that post, we reported how many visitors we had on our website for the year 2012. WordPress has done it again – they released the yearly report on our numbers for 2013.  It is so much fun to compare the numbers between the two years. Dental website gone Viral If I understand the 2012 report correctly we had about 10,000 page hits. 600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 10,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 17 years … Continue reading →

The house needs a new coat of paint.

Color Scheme from our old website.

Have you ever walked around your home, and you can see that the Maine winters have been hard;  the combination of wind, cold and wet has blistered the paint, and the color has lost a bit of its original luster. This summer, I started having that same feeling with our website. Our website currently has 227 pages and 127 posts. It definitely has grown through the years. As I bounced through the different areas of the website, I decided it needed some new luster. Have you ever had to choose and pick the perfect paint for your home?  Boy, that can be a challenge.  It’s not just the one main color you have to worry about, but trying to get … Continue reading →

Blogging Analytics

Screen Capture of Wordpress year in blogging 2012

What is blogging analytics? To be completely honest, I’m not 100% sure. If I had to venture a guess, it would be similar to the idea of little boys, throwing rocks in a pond, just to see how big a splash the rock makes.  I think blogging is similar to throwing rocks into the internet pond, analytics is the tool that lets you measure how big the spalsh is. The two main blogging analytics tools that we use for our office website are Google analytics, and the Jetpack plugin by WordPress. I just received some email from Jetpack with a yearly report that we could share with others, showing the overall impact our website had for the year. Press here … Continue reading →

Dental Blog

I would like to send out an invitation to the dental community. I know that there are many of you out there that have great dental websites, and you want to get them noticed. From what I understand, the internet search engines, such as google, bing, and yahoo, scour the internet searching to see how many OTHER websites point to your dental website. So, here is an opportunity to get your website noticed. Leave a comment on our dental blog! It’s that simple. Be sure and leave the URL for your dental website. When the search bots go through my website, your website will get a bump for being listed elsewhere on the net. Please note that I have enabled trackback … Continue reading →
