John gets his smile ready for Florida!

John Dimier getting his smile ready for Florida

Dental websites can be interesting and informative or simple with minimal information. We at Seasons of Smiles Dental are very proud of our website because it’s so much more than just a yellow page ad with our phone number. It’s a working website. We  have it full of educational material that we can share with our patients. For example, depending on our patients’ situation we can show them how crowns work, or examples of what zirconium crowns look like. Or information regarding Invisalign. Lots of informative stuff. One day while John was in the dental chair, something caught his eye on the computer screen. “Bill Curtis has a smile makeover”. When I walked in John asked me about the smile makeover that was … Continue reading →

QDP success Story with Brad Dodge

Seasons of Smiles Dental with Brad Dodge - We love what we do!

No Insurance? No Problem! Dental insurance doesn’t have to be a patient’s only option for affordable dental care. Let’s face it, in this ever changing health care environment one thing that remains a constant is a patients need to be treated with the respect and the doctors need to remain at the forefront of delivering the necessary care customized for each unique patient. It’s a timeless relationship that, all to often, is reduced due to the constraints of traditional insurance models. Many people put off dental care because of a lack of “dental insurance” and the perceived high costs of treatment. According to a study done by the UC Berkeley Labor Center, nationwide, about 3.7 million Americans have lost health … Continue reading →

What is DDS? Donated Dental Services

The Donated Dental Services (DDS) is an organization that provides free, comprehensive dental treatment to our country’s most vulnerable people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile. These are people who cannot afford necessary treatment and cannot get help in any other way. Program coordinators link volunteer dentists and labs with patients in need. One of our Seasons of Smiles Dental patients, Karen Davis, came to us through DDS. She has been given a beautiful new smile and is delighted to tears, not just her tears but ours as well. Karen gave our office permission to share her pictures and her story because she says that she can see her real self now when she looks in the mirror, and she wants others … Continue reading →

Bill Curtis has a Smile Makeover

Bill Curtis's new smile makeover at Seasons of Smiles Dental

When Bill Curtis was thirteen years old he was riding his bike near the General Henry Knox Museum at Montpelier in Thomaston, Maine. He crashed his bike and chipped his two front teeth in half.  By the time he was seen by a dentist it was too late so his two front teeth were removed and a flipper partial was put into place. Seven years later he had a permanent bridge placed by Dr. Gerald Pendleton DDS here in Camden Maine. Do you want to venture the cost on a 4 unit bridge back in 1970? A whopping $180! For the next forty-six years, that bridge held on. No decay and nothing broke on it. However, aesthetically the bridge needed help. Curious to see more … Continue reading →

Battle of the Smiles – Jon Stewart vs. Rush Limbaugh

Let’s see, first things first. The page layout. This is important… We don’t want to mess up here. Hmmm, Rush on the right and Jon on the left. That looks exactly right. Wouldn’t you just love to hear a political debate between Rush and Jon? Both these men are so verbally talented. They see things so differently, it would be fun to hear a verbal slugfest. I don’t know if a battle of the minds is ever going to happen, but we can see a battle of the smiles! Battle of the Smiles – Jon Stewart vs. Rush Limbaugh Just click twice on their smile to zoom in. If you look through photos of Jon Stewart, the first thing you … Continue reading →

Jean Stapleton has a Smile Makeover

Jean Stapleton has a Smile Makeover

This weekend when I saw the news about Jean Stapleton, I was saddened. I didn’t know too much about Jean Stapleton, but I sure knew Edith Bunker. Edith Bunker was the mom from the hit 70’s TV show, All in the Family. In one sense, a part of me felt like watching Edith was like watching my own mother. The way she fluttered around, and deflected comments off her sitcom husband Archie Bunker (played by Carroll O’Connor), had a very authentic feel. I just loved her character. So this morning, when I heard of her demise, I went to look at pictures of her. I was surprised to see that Jean Stapleton had a very unique smile. It you look really close, you … Continue reading →

Survivor 2012 with Lisa Whelchel

Survivor 2012!!!! It’s hard to believe that this is the 25th season of Survivor. I guess time flies when you’re having fun. What a pleasant surprise to see Lisa Whelchel. It’s a been a few years since we have seen Blair on the “Facts of Life”. The first question that pops into mind is, I wonder how have “Blair’s” teeth  faired? If you are curious too, just click twice on Lisa’s teeth to zoom in. Absolutely gorgeous. Great color, Her two centrals are huge, manly, square teeth, but they look great on her. I just love the way her smile follows the contour of her lower lip. It’s only the second night of Survivor 2012 Philippines, and there are still … Continue reading →

Who has nicer smile for November’s Presidential election 2012?

OK, let’s play another round of, “Who has nicer teeth?” We are approaching another presidential election. It could be fun to compare Michelle Obama’s and Ann Romney’s smile. Michelle Obama VS Ann Romney Looking at Michelle’s teeth first, great color but the teeth are a tad bit crowded. Lot’s of irregularities, upper and lower. I could be wrong, but my guess is that she never had braces. Michelle’s teeth are vintage, great smile. On to Ann’s teeth. Perfection. The color is a very uniform white.  They look great. So did she have braces or is she one of those lucky ones who had perfectly straight teeth? The color is a great color of white, a tad bit uniform in color, … Continue reading →

Tom Cruise – Asymmetrical Smile

Toms’ smile is a favorite among dentists. Toms’ smile has been brought up in numerous dental continuing education classes that I have attended. Midline Discrepancy is how they describe the problem.  If you look closely, you can see how he has an asymmetric smile.  Word is that Tom has a missing upper bicuspid, #12 (it would be on his left side).  This probably was done in an attempt to deal with a slight crowding problem.  Once the tooth was removed, all the other teeth shifted into the missing gap. Generally it is better to extract the same tooth on the opposite side and then use orthodontics to align the teeth.  You wonder if  this was done because orthodontics was not … Continue reading →
