A DJI Phantom 4 Drone at the Dental Office.

DGI Phantom 4 Rockport Maine

While at my daughter’s wedding a friend of the bridal party brought his DJI Phantom 4 Drone.  Wow, what a neat toy, I thought as it buzzed around the guests capturing each moment. So when I came home I started investigating online.  I think one of my favorite YouTube videos I saw was some fishermen using the Drone to do some Tuna fishing.  I had some mixed feelings for the Tuna involved, but the film footage and the application of how the drone was used was fascinating. We live in a beautiful part of the world, I was curious what it would look like 400 feet up from 100 Elm Street in Camden Maine. Aren’t you curious too? Is 400 ft. the … Continue reading →

The iTero Scanner

Seasons of Smiles Dental has a new iTero Scanner.

The iTero impressions scanner is an innovative technology that allows Dr. Medina to create a virtual computer generated replica of the mouth tissues. It captures clear and accurate impressions data in a matter of minutes and there is normally no need for any traditional impressions materials, which can be inconvenient, time consuming and quite messy. For doctors and patients alike, digital impressions are easier as well as more comfortable for the patient compared to traditional methods. The impressions data is then transferred to a computer that is used to create restorations without the need for old-fashioned stone models. How It Works Using the iTero scanner, the dentist captures an image of the teeth in preparation and can create a powder … Continue reading →

Blogging Analytics

Screen Capture of Wordpress year in blogging 2012

What is blogging analytics? To be completely honest, I’m not 100% sure. If I had to venture a guess, it would be similar to the idea of little boys, throwing rocks in a pond, just to see how big a splash the rock makes.  I think blogging is similar to throwing rocks into the internet pond, analytics is the tool that lets you measure how big the spalsh is. The two main blogging analytics tools that we use for our office website are Google analytics, and the Jetpack plugin by WordPress. I just received some email from Jetpack with a yearly report that we could share with others, showing the overall impact our website had for the year. Press here … Continue reading →

WiFi and iPods and Thermostats?

Our new Nest Thermostat installed in our office.

What do iPods and thermostats and WiFi have in common? The answer is Nest. The new thermostat is designed by Tony Fadell, who invented the iPod. Okay, he didn’t do it singlehandedly–but the former Apple executive conceived it, got Apple on board, and then went on to shepherd the development of 18 (!) generations of the company’s signature pre-iPhone product. In 2008 he left Apple and several years later founded a stealth startup called Nest Labs, which was revealed this year to be in the… thermostat business. We at Seasons of Smiles Dental love anything technologically related, and we just had to try this out at the office. We have only been using the thermostat for this last week, and … Continue reading →
