It’s been a long day, and we are driving home. It’s suppertime and we are hungry. We are still 30 minutes from home. Should we wait to eat at home or should we eat at Moody’s! That’s an easy decision to make. We at Seasons of Smiles Dental applaud Moody’s for offering great food and service to our community for over 85 years!

Welcome to Moody’s — We are often asked how Moody’s began. In 1927, 3 small cabins were built on the present Route 1A. These cabins were simple, no heat or running water, renting for a $1.00 a person. At the end of that first summer, over 600 people had paid their $1.00 a night and a new business was launched. More cabins were built, and in the summer of 1930 a small restaurant was opened next to the cabins, serving only breakfast and dinner. In 1931 a launch wagon was opened beside the restaurant to serve hotdogs and hamburgers during the day to the Model T travelers.
When the State decided to move Route 1, our Dad “P.BW” promptly built a road connecting the cabins to the new Route 1. The small lunch wagon was moved, a screened porch was added, and Moody’s Diner was open for business when the road opened in 1934. When weary travelers stopped for a nickel coffee or a 10-cent sandwich, they were given a sales pitch for the dollar-a-night cabins at the top of the hill.
Our mother, Bertha, was the pastry cook in those early years, rising at 4 in the morning to bake in the home kitchen. She also managed the cabin business, and, on the side, was a great Mom to nine children.
Dad made many additions to the small diner over the years, we completed the final renovation in December of 2004, now seating 108. During the summer, our bakery supplies 50-60 pies, 10 dozen muffins, 8 dozen donuts, and 40 dozen biscuits daily.
