We are always on the lookout for great content for our dental blog. So when I saw an ad from Build My Content, advertising that they could introduce us to some writers that could help us write dentally related content, I was intrigued. Not only that but it was FREE, so I signed up. I love the fact that they were comfortable with WordPress. They asked if we could create a WordPress user for them so that they could sign in. Nicely played. This is the first blog post that they have written for us. Not only did they do the writeup, but they also found the photo that we could use for the featured image. I look forward to more blog posts in the future. Dr. Medina

Oral health is extremely important. Not only is proper care of your teeth and gums essential to living a comfortable life, but it can also have a major impact on how you’re perceived by others. An unkempt mouth is an immediate turnoff, but it may take a while to achieve what you want. Here are some things you to know about perfecting your smile.

Invisalign and Braces

Crooked and gapped teeth can be a real nuisance and quite unattractive. Although correctional devices may seem like a source of salvation, traditional braces could take some time to solve the problem, months or even years. If you don’t want to deal with the pain or annoyance of metal braces, you may consider getting Invisalign. These invisible braces may require the same length of time, but you won’t care as much. They’re comfortable and unobtrusive. With either option, you’ll need to make sure you follow the instructions of your orthodontist regarding caring for your teeth while using braces.

Gingivitis

An excess of plaque leads to gingivitis, a serious gum disease. To fight gingivitis, you should go on the offensive against plaque. You need to use toothpaste that has antibacterial and plaque-fighting properties. With proper care, it takes about two weeks for gingivitis to clear up. Though this can be an embarrassing and painful condition, it can teach you an important lesson about the need for oral health awareness.

The Role of Proper Oral Hygiene

You probably learned to brush your teeth before you can quite remember being taught, but it’s not something your parents made you do just because they liked bossing you around. Not only does brushing help freshen your breath, but it also has a lasting impact on your oral health. You should thoroughly brush your teeth at least twice a day for at least two minutes each time. You also need to clean around your gums. Make sure to keep up a daily flossing habit as well. This effort takes a lifetime to create and preserve a beautiful smile, but it’s absolutely necessary.

Minimize Staining

The best oral health care practices in the world can be undermined by what you’re consuming. Things like coffee, red wine, and acidic fruits can be ruinous for the appearance of your teeth, especially if you consume them often. If you’re a smoker, you have to contend with your teeth being browned by your habit. Consider which of your behaviors could be staining your teeth, and then cut back on them or give them up. If you’re not satisfied with the way your teeth look, don’t despair. The important thing is that you’re willing to make some changes in your life. Stay positive and determined. You’ll find that perfect smile soon enough.
