This little Invisalign smile of mine . . .

Chantel Woitko - This little Invisalign smile of mine . . .

Does Chantel Woitko have the prettiest smile ever? Today as she walked in, I knew this was going to be a fun day because Chantel has reached a milestone in her Invisalign journey. This is the day we are scheduled to take her Invisalign buttons off! She no longer has to wear her aligners 24×7 and  will now be transitioning to Vivera Retainers by Invisalign to maintain her beautiful smile! I was so taken by the moment I composed a song for her on the spot.  Good thing there where no recorders preset to record. Are you familiar to the tune of This Little Light of Mine? Same melody, different words. This little smile of mine . . . I’m gonna let it … Continue reading →

John gets his smile ready for Florida!

John Dimier getting his smile ready for Florida

Dental websites can be interesting and informative or simple with minimal information. We at Seasons of Smiles Dental are very proud of our website because it’s so much more than just a yellow page ad with our phone number. It’s a working website. We  have it full of educational material that we can share with our patients. For example, depending on our patients’ situation we can show them how crowns work, or examples of what zirconium crowns look like. Or information regarding Invisalign. Lots of informative stuff. One day while John was in the dental chair, something caught his eye on the computer screen. “Bill Curtis has a smile makeover”. When I walked in John asked me about the smile makeover that was … Continue reading →

Hooray for a healthy mouth!

Dick Householder - Horray for a health mouth

We recently had the pleasure of completing a month long endeavor  to achieve and maintain one of our long time patients’ oral health. Through the combined efforts of myself, Samantha Quinn and our patient, Dick Householder,  we saw some fabulous results on his journey to a healthy mouth. He was so thrilled with the results that he allowed us to share his success story in hopes that it will encourage others who are wanting a healthier mouth. Dick’s commitment of coming to our office on an average of 3 times a week for irrigation over a time span of 4 weeks, along with his particular attention to performing great home care, shined through in his recent examination!  As clinicians, this is … Continue reading →

Local Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ Sporting the “Reusable Grocery Bag”

Jackie Onassis Rocking the Reusable Grocery Bags in Camden Rockland Rockport Maine

“So, how was your summer?” This is the question all students anticipate as they pack their bags and head on back to the life of stress and studies. Unlike most of my friends, I didn’t work at camp, stay at home, or travel the world; but, I did have just as much, if not more fun, than they did. I worked for my dad. Working at Seasons of Smiles is always an adventure — after all, we all know what a hoot Nellie Clark is. I spent my afternoons at the office and did a hodgepodge of random jobs like scanning, shredding, cleaning down operatories, and writing stuff for my dad’s website. And one of my favorites of all – finding office … Continue reading →

QDP success Story with Brad Dodge

Seasons of Smiles Dental with Brad Dodge - We love what we do!

No Insurance? No Problem! Dental insurance doesn’t have to be a patient’s only option for affordable dental care. Let’s face it, in this ever changing health care environment one thing that remains a constant is a patients need to be treated with the respect and the doctors need to remain at the forefront of delivering the necessary care customized for each unique patient. It’s a timeless relationship that, all to often, is reduced due to the constraints of traditional insurance models. Many people put off dental care because of a lack of “dental insurance” and the perceived high costs of treatment. According to a study done by the UC Berkeley Labor Center, nationwide, about 3.7 million Americans have lost health … Continue reading →

What is DDS? Donated Dental Services

The Donated Dental Services (DDS) is an organization that provides free, comprehensive dental treatment to our country’s most vulnerable people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile. These are people who cannot afford necessary treatment and cannot get help in any other way. Program coordinators link volunteer dentists and labs with patients in need. One of our Seasons of Smiles Dental patients, Karen Davis, came to us through DDS. She has been given a beautiful new smile and is delighted to tears, not just her tears but ours as well. Karen gave our office permission to share her pictures and her story because she says that she can see her real self now when she looks in the mirror, and she wants others … Continue reading →

Bill Curtis has a Smile Makeover

Bill Curtis's new smile makeover at Seasons of Smiles Dental

When Bill Curtis was thirteen years old he was riding his bike near the General Henry Knox Museum at Montpelier in Thomaston, Maine. He crashed his bike and chipped his two front teeth in half.  By the time he was seen by a dentist it was too late so his two front teeth were removed and a flipper partial was put into place. Seven years later he had a permanent bridge placed by Dr. Gerald Pendleton DDS here in Camden Maine. Do you want to venture the cost on a 4 unit bridge back in 1970? A whopping $180! For the next forty-six years, that bridge held on. No decay and nothing broke on it. However, aesthetically the bridge needed help. Curious to see more … Continue reading →

A Dental Day on Vinalhaven Maine

Check out Amber Shane's beautiful Invisalign smile on Vinalhaven Maine.

It was April 1, 2016 and mother nature was not to be denied. I felt the waves rocking me back and forth as we sojourned across the foggy, rough, terrain over to the island. Once we arrived on the island we started getting settled in at the dental clinic. However, we were soon informed that there was only going to be one ferry leaving the island that day due to the gloomy weather and that the one and only ferry was leaving in 5 minutes. If we missed that boat then we would be spending the night on the island. No way Jose! I thought to myself as we grabbed our gear and started running to the ferry landing. Run Michelle! Brooke … Continue reading →

Do it yourself (#DIY) Dentistry

Amos Dudley makes his own Invisalign Aligners

Is There Really Such a Thing as Do It Yourself (#DIY) Dentistry? Recently, my son sent me this link showing me how a student made his own Invisalign like aligners–start to finish. I am really impressed with the young man, and how he was able to create the aligners to straiten his own teeth. From what I understand, he had worn braces when he was younger, however, he did not wear his retainers. His smile was in need of a slight adjustment. Is it possible that someday we may have our own 3D printers at home? And that all the software we need will be at our fingertips to control the 3D printer?  The only thing you can say about technology is that it … Continue reading →
