The why to your what – Dental Purpose Statement

Kristin Pelletier with KP Consulting - Helping us with our Dental Purpose Statement

I love the quote by Simon Sinek, “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” Have you ever thought about the why to what you do each day? Dr. Medina and Seasons of Smiles Dental has. A dental practice knowing their why is so important. As a patient, you aren’t buying root canals and crowns and cleanings, you’re purchasing the belief behind Dr. Medina’s recommendations. As owner and practice management coach of KP Consulting, I work with Dr. Medina and his team throughout the year, and I recently challenged them to reaffirm the why to their what. If Dr. Medina is your dentist, you should be feeling pretty great about that right now. Why? Because on … Continue reading →

Making someone’s day with a small gesture.

A Small Gesture - Michelle, Nellie and Samantha

Working in the field of dentistry can be challenging. This is largely because coming to the dentist is not always high on people’s list of favorite things to do. And this is completely understandable. Having a gloved, masked, person 15 inches from your body and working in your mouth is intimidating to say the least. Also, if you have had a previous negative experience, it adds to the anxiety of going to the dentist. We often hear comments like “No offense, but I don’t like the dentist” or “I hate coming here.”  While we do understand, and try not to take it personally, there are times when it can be very deflating for us to hear. I recently had a patient who … Continue reading →

What is DDS? Donated Dental Services

Karen shares her new photo with Dr. Medina.

The Donated Dental Services (DDS) is an organization that provides free, comprehensive dental treatment to our country’s most vulnerable people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile. These are people who cannot afford necessary treatment and cannot get help in any other way. Program coordinators link volunteer dentists and labs with patients in need. One of our Seasons of Smiles Dental patients, Karen Davis, came to us through DDS. She has been given a beautiful new smile and is delighted to tears, not just her tears but ours as well. Karen gave our office permission to share her pictures and her story because she says that she can see her real self now when she looks in the mirror, and she wants others … Continue reading →

OraVerse – Reverse numbness twice as fast.

Oraverse - Can numbness be reversed?

While at Yankee Dental this year I had half a day to walk through the convention floor.  I systematically started on one end and booth by booth, made my way to the other end.  While walking through I saw the booth by Septodent.  We are fans of their products and I have been hearing about a product that they have called OraVerse. What is Oraverse? Your patient wants and needs to get on with their life without that numb, drooling, distorted face feeling. OraVerse is the only local anesthesia reversal agent that accelerates the return to normal sensation and function for patients who want to avoid the unwanted and unnecessary lingering soft tissue numbness after routine dental procedures How does OraVerse work?  It … Continue reading →

Seasons of Smiles - Helps out with Dentist with a Heart.

Dentists in Knox County joined forces to bring smiles to local people in time for Valentine’s Day. Several dental offices came together to support the Dentists with a Heart event, building on the success of last year’s free dental day. This year, the free clinics took place on February 3rd and hundreds of people benefited from local dentists giving up their time and expertise.
