Dental Website Design

The 'ol Farm Truck - Dental website Design: It’s a sleeper.

We at Seasons of Smiles Dental run our own website. I have heard it suggested that it’s not usually a good idea for the dentist to make their own website. And as the years have progressed I must admit, there have been times that I was tempted to throw in the towel and go buy into one of those off the shelf dental websites. I cringe at the mistakes made while running our own dental website.  Even now, there are a few rough edges that need to be worked on. But overall, looking back, I’m glad we stuck with it. I absolutely love our end product. I think it’s the BEST dental office website. Dental website Design: It’s a sleeper. … Continue reading →

Jetpack’s end of the year annual report

Crunchy numbers - Wordpress Jetpack Yearly Report -2014

The Year has come to an end.  Jetpack has released our numbers for 2014!  I must admit I was hoping to hit 100,000 page hits for the year, but I guess we fell a bit short.  We do have three years of numbers to compare.  The numbers are definitely going up. To summerize our last three years. In the 2012 report we had about 10,000 page hits. 600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 10,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 17 years to get that many views. In 2012, there were 79 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 80 posts. The … Continue reading →

1 800 dentists

Dr. Medina meets Fred Joyal cofounder of 1 800 dentist.

Are you looking for a dentist in the Camden, Rockport, Rockland, Belfast or midcoast area of Maine? We can be reached at 1-207-236-4740, or after hours at (877) 437-2644. Through the years we have been coming to Yankee Dental, a January yearly conference in Boston. A few years back we took a course where a book was highly recommended. Everything is Marketing by Fred Joyal. I started reading the book with an open mind, because I wanted to learn to customize my treatments to what is best for my patients. And I was just curious to see what the book had to say. The book was written for dentists, which I thought was great.  I loved all the advice that … Continue reading →

Seasons of Smiles Dental is going viral.

OK, maybe not so much.  Well, at least in my wildest dreams.  Last year we posted a blog on blogging analytics.   In that post, we reported how many visitors we had on our website for the year 2012. WordPress has done it again – they released the yearly report on our numbers for 2013.  It is so much fun to compare the numbers between the two years. Dental website gone Viral If I understand the 2012 report correctly we had about 10,000 page hits. 600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 10,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 17 years … Continue reading →

The house needs a new coat of paint.

Color Scheme from our old website.

Have you ever walked around your home, and you can see that the Maine winters have been hard;  the combination of wind, cold and wet has blistered the paint, and the color has lost a bit of its original luster. This summer, I started having that same feeling with our website. Our website currently has 227 pages and 127 posts. It definitely has grown through the years. As I bounced through the different areas of the website, I decided it needed some new luster. Have you ever had to choose and pick the perfect paint for your home?  Boy, that can be a challenge.  It’s not just the one main color you have to worry about, but trying to get … Continue reading →

Blogging Analytics

Screen Capture of Wordpress year in blogging 2012

What is blogging analytics? To be completely honest, I’m not 100% sure. If I had to venture a guess, it would be similar to the idea of little boys, throwing rocks in a pond, just to see how big a splash the rock makes.  I think blogging is similar to throwing rocks into the internet pond, analytics is the tool that lets you measure how big the spalsh is. The two main blogging analytics tools that we use for our office website are Google analytics, and the Jetpack plugin by WordPress. I just received some email from Jetpack with a yearly report that we could share with others, showing the overall impact our website had for the year. Press here … Continue reading →

WiFi and iPods and Thermostats?

Our new Nest Thermostat installed in our office.

What do iPods and thermostats and WiFi have in common? The answer is Nest. The new thermostat is designed by Tony Fadell, who invented the iPod. Okay, he didn’t do it singlehandedly–but the former Apple executive conceived it, got Apple on board, and then went on to shepherd the development of 18 (!) generations of the company’s signature pre-iPhone product. In 2008 he left Apple and several years later founded a stealth startup called Nest Labs, which was revealed this year to be in the… thermostat business. We at Seasons of Smiles Dental love anything technologically related, and we just had to try this out at the office. We have only been using the thermostat for this last week, and … Continue reading →
