We love fluoride! And the FDA and ADA still do too, they are just adjusting the dosage. New Toothsavers Game! Game encourages kids to brush for two minutes, twice a day through interactive fairy tale kingdom adventure! With Children’s Dental Health Month around the corner, the Ad Council and the Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives have released a new, free mobile gaming app, Toothsavers, in an effort to motivate parents and caregivers to take action to reduce their children’s risk of oral disease. Yankee Dental 2012 – Yes you can!!!

The New England dental convention is held in Boston every year. This year at Yankee Dental, the opening keynote speaker was Dick Hoyt! Dick and his son Rick, who was born with multiple disabilities, have formed “Team Hoyt” and compete in marathons and triathlons around the world. Team Hoyt is a story of hope and working hard for what you believe in. According to Team Hoyt Wiki, in addition it many other events, they have participated in 6 Ironman Triathlons. That would consist of consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike and a marathon 26.2-mile (42.2 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. Maine Dental Association encourages bill passage.

AUGUSTA – On Feb. 1, the Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Insurance and Financial Affairs is expected to discuss LD 1666 “An Act to Guarantee Basic Preventive Dental Health Services for Children in Maine.” The bill would require dental insurance companies to pay for at least two fluoride treatments under dental insurance policies sold in Maine. The Maine Dental Association believes that is a goal worth making into law. We are seeing a very negative trend in dental benefit insurance plans, said Frances Miliano, MDA executive director, in a news release.  Most insurance companies were covering two fluoride treatments a year, many are now cutting back to only one.
